Lan Ha Bay
Lan Ha Bay, situated to the south and east of Cat Ba Island, serves as a captivating extension of Ha Long Bay. It mirrors the breathtaking karst formations and crystalline blue waters characteristic of its renowned counterpart, while boasting serene sandy beaches and a more tranquil atmosphere with fewer visitors. Despite these similarities, the only geographical distinction between Lan Ha Bay and its neighboring Ha Long Bay is the administrative boundary, as each bay falls under the jurisdiction of a different province.
Situated south of Ha Long Bay, Lan Ha Bay emerges as the smallest among the trio of primary bays in the vicinity. Spanning approximately 76 square kilometers, it boasts around 400 limestone islets, each contributing to its picturesque charm akin to Ha Long Bay.
Lan Ha Bay showcases the same awe-inspiring scenery of towering karst formations synonymous with Ha Long. Were it not for the notably sparse crowds, distinguishing between the two bays would prove challenging.
Due to its distance from Ha Long City and the primary tourist hub, Lan Ha Bay never experienced the surge in popularity witnessed by Ha Long Bay in the 1990s. Consequently, Lan Ha has remained relatively undiscovered, lingering in the shadow of its more celebrated counterpart.
